Family Therapy & Counselling

Every family goes through difficult chapters. Whether you’re facing conflict that keeps returning, a painful change, or simply a sense that you’ve stopped understanding one another, family therapy offers a safe, supportive space to reconnect.\

Finding comfort is exactly what my family therapy and family counselling are here to bring. I’m Aishah, a UKCP-registered family therapist, and I work with families warmly, gently and without judgement.

What is family therapy?

Family therapy, sometimes called family counselling, is a form of talking therapy that focuses on relationships rather than any one individual. Where individual counselling supports one person, family therapy brings members of a family together to understand each other better, ease tension and rebuild connection. It’s based on a simple idea: when we change how a family communicates and relates, everyone within it can begin to feel better.

What does family therapy involve at Tasali?

Sessions usually involve two or more family members meeting together with me as your family therapist. There’s no fixed script, we start from what matters most to your family. I’ll help everyone feel heard, notice the patterns that keep causing pain, and find new, kinder ways of relating.

Who attends can change over time; sometimes the whole family comes, sometimes just a few members. Sessions last 50 minutes, and we always begin with a free 20-minute phone consultation so you can decide whether it feels right.

How Tasali family therapy can help your family

Family counselling can help with a wide range of experiences, including:

  • Frequent conflict or arguments that feel stuck

  • Communication that has broken down or become painful

  • Parenting challenges and difficulties between parents and children

  • Major life transitions — separation, divorce, bereavement, illness, moving home

  • Cultural and generational tensions, and differing expectations within the family

  • Supporting a family member through anxiety, depression or trauma

You don’t need to arrive with the “right” words or a tidy explanation. If things simply feel hard at home, that’s reason enough to reach out.
